St. Josef’s Winery, one of Oregon’s wine pioneers, also has dining and tasting events scattered throughout the year. From paella to pok pok to locally-crafted cheese and wine pairings, this Canby gem knows how to thrill the palate. For those who delight in the nuances of a curated six-course meal, don’t miss a Dinner in the Field event at St. Josef’s. The seasonal dinner celebrates Oregon’s harvest as diners gather around communal tables for dishes created from the bounty of nearby farms and ranches. Each course is expertly paired with wines from St. Josef’s vineyards.
Another notable Dinner in the Field event happens at Terra Vina Wines and Vineyard in Wilsonville, Oregon. This distinctive family-owned winery nestled on a hilltop has a beautiful tasting room overlooking lush vineyards with Mt. Hood views on a clear day. The Wilsonville tasting room and vineyard is open the second Saturday of every month from June through October and for special wine tasting events and is an official stop on the Farmlandia Farm Loop. You can also taste their wine every day at their downtown McMinnville wine bar.
The Kitchen at Middleground Farms offers regularly scheduled themed cooking classes on their quaint farm in Wilsonville – everything from a Valentine’s Day chocolate class with Moonstruck Chocolate to homemade pasta and baking classes to date night Seafood Feasts.
For a delightful mix of food and history, head to the French Prairie Farm Feast. Held every August at the Newell House Museum in the Champoeg State Heritage Area, the event is a celebration of local food grown in the French Prairie and luscious Oregon wines.
While exploring the agri-magic of the French Prairie, pay a visit to the French Prairie Gardens in St. Paul. The fully operational family farm includes a scratch bakery, garden center, and acres of fruit orchards, berry fields and vegetable gardens. Almost every item sold in their market comes straight from the farm.
