Spring means it’s tulip festival time in Oregon, but flower fever continues with these delightful floral attractions and events near Portland, Oregon.

Oregon Tulip Festival

Wooden Shoe Tulip Festival

Every March through May the city of Woodburn, Oregon explodes with color during the Wooden Shoe Tulip Festival. Catch a case of flower fever while strolling through 40 acres of vibrant blooms. Make it a day-long event with a visit to the Wooden Shoe Vineyard tasting room, where you can take in the mountain views while sipping on a glass of Pinot. Run a 10K through a tulip field at the annual Tulip Trail Run, or stop and sniff the flowers with your four-legged friend at the Muddy Paws Fun Run every April. Other special events include an opportunity to soar above the flowery fields in a hot air balloon ride, painting parties and photography classes.

Camellia Festival

Pack up the kids for a fun-filled day at the annual Camellia Festival celebrating Newberg, Oregon’s official flower and its Asian origins. This annual April festival punctuates the Oregon Camellia Society’s annual statewide Camellia bloom show and competition. The all-day event also hosts a 5K and 10K run/walk followed by performances, demonstrations, hands-on kid art activities, a plant sale and more. Then shop and eat from regional vendors connected to Pan-Asian culture.

Swan Island Dahlia Festival

For a beautiful end-of-summer day in the Willamette Valley countryside, head to the Swan Island Dahlia Festival in Canby. Explore nearly 40 acres of gorgeous gardens. View over 400 stunning floral arrangements and the 15,000 blooms on display in three indoor showrooms. The hardest part? Choosing which fresh cut flowers to take home when you leave.

Portland Rose Garden & Rose Festival

The Rose Garden in Portland’s Washington Park is an area must-see. With spectacular views of downtown Portland and Mt. Hood, the garden boasts over 10,000 rose bushes blossoming with unrestrained enthusiasm from April through October. The annual Portland Rose Festival celebrates from April through September with festive floral-inspired events like parades, runs, concerts, fireworks, and an annual spring rose show.

Portland Japanese Garden

Across the street from the Rose Garden is the Portland Japanese Garden, an urban oasis with eight unique garden sections representing a different facet of Japanese design. You’ll find an authentic Japanese tea house, a bonsai terrace, and a zen garden that serves as a haven for contemplation among the treasures of the 12-acre garden.

Lan Su Chinese Garden

In Portland’s Chinatown lies a walled city garden enclosing a full city block. The Lan Su Chinese Garden, built with 50 tons of rock shipped from China, is built around a pond filled with lotus and koi. A path winds you through eleven areas, including the Courtyard of Tranquility, Scholar’s Courtyard, and a teahouse, and ends at Painted Boat in Misty Rain, a pavilion that represents the boat of friendship.

French Prairie Gardens

French Prairie Gardens is a family farm not far from Wilsonville. Visit the scratch bakery, garden center, and delight in exploring acres of flowers, fruit orchards, berry fields and vegetable gardens.
