Willamette Valley Wine County Near Wilsonville, Oregon

Terra Vina Wines and Vineyard is a family-owned vineyard tucked up into a hillside just outside of Wilsonville. You can visit their tasting room in downtown McMinnville, Oregon anytime or look for select special events and second Saturday tasting at their gorgeous vineyard in Wilsonville from June through October. They are also a stop along the Farmlandia Farm Loop.

Wooden Shoe Vineyards bottled their first vintage in 2012 and never looked back. Hop on a Wagon Wine Tour for a leisurely ride around the farm and vineyard while sipping on a glass of estate wine. Or visit the tasting room for an expansive view of the vines and surrounding mountains. Wander through the tulip gardens with a glass of Tempranillo and enjoy an extraordinary slice of wine country.

Located on a historic 1500-acre family farm next to Champoeg State Heritage Area, Lady Hill Winery celebrates the simple pleasure of sharing a glass of wine with people you love. Visit the Columban Tasting Hall, where a tasting staff will guide you through a flight of delightful wines. The light-filled gathering space honors the rich history of the land and is a stunning fusion of old and new world charm.

The ultimate wine and food event takes place every year at St. Josef’s Winery in Canby. Enjoy a 6-course Dinner in the Field prepared by a legendary chef and thoughtfully paired with St. Josef’s estate wines. It’s a celebration of people, place and extraordinary vino.

Craving more sparkle? Head to Bubbles Fest, a gathering of over 25 winemakers creating some of the region’s best sparkling wines. Take in the incredible views of the Pacific Coast Range while sipping on flutes of wine and enjoying locally-crafted small bites. It all happens in February at Anne Amie Vineyards in Carlton.

For an Old World wine experience, take your pick of local grape stomping festivals in the area. Willamette Valley Vineyards’ September Grape Stomp allows guests to compete in teams of two (a Stomper and a Swabbie) for the title of Oregon’s greatest stomp team and a chance to compete at the world championship in Santa Rosa, California.

For a casual European vibe, head to St. Josef’s Winery in Canby for their annual Grape Stomping Festival, also held in September. Kick up your heels (literally) in a 1200 gallon oak barrel full of grapes as live music serenades your efforts. Enjoy sausage, sauerkraut and other locally-made food while secretly wondering how long your feet will stay purple.

The historic town of Aurora, Oregon has a number of charming wineries and working vineyards. Aurora Colony Vineyards is a distinctive vineyard, tasting room and event venue with a full kitchen — ran by Chef Vance Wilson. Register early (they tend to sell out!) for one of their weekly wine dinners paired with live music on the vast outdoor patio. Off Main St. in downtown Aurora, stop in at the Pheasant Run Winery & Tasting Room where you can taste their famous Bank Robber Red (named for the lady who took the town’s money to win back her husband) in a historic bank vault.

The bold, beautiful, bountiful land we call wine country yearns to be explored in unique ways. Tour your favorite wineries on bicycle or horseback. Or take your adventure up, up and away while soaring over the vineyards in a hot air balloon or helicopter.
